Meet Tara
Tara Durant is a state senator, Marine wife, and conservative fighter grounded in her faith, family, and the freedoms we cherish. She’s not a career politician—she’s a mom on a mission to protect our communities—securing the border, restoring law and order, and bringing fresh, common-sense leadership to Washington.
Raised with a deep sense of faith, hard work, and service, Tara and her husband—a U.S. Marine who served over 30 years in uniform—have instilled those same values in their three children. As a military spouse, Tara understands the sacrifices families make, and she’s determined to overhaul the broken VA system and fight for the care and respect our veterans deserve.
When inflation surged, borders were left unsecured, and police were defunded, Tara refused to stand on the sidelines. The turning point came when she and her daughter were trapped in their car during a Black Lives Matter protest—and a 911 operator told her police couldn’t help. That moment fueled her resolve to take action.
In the Virginia Senate, Tara partnered with Governor Glenn Youngkin to cut taxes, protect families, and grow the economy. She led the charge to fully fund law enforcement, keep our kids safe in school, and stop illegal immigration. As a mom of two daughters and a former youth coach for girls’ sports, Tara knows firsthand what’s at stake—and she’ll never back down from fighting to protect girls’ sports by stopping biological boys from competing against them.
In Congress, she’ll fight for pro-growth, America-first policies—including a Balanced Budget Amendment, permanent Trump tax cuts for American families, and ending taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security. A proud defender of the Second Amendment, Tara Durant will always stand firm for our values and freedoms.
A breast cancer survivor, Tara faced the fight of her life with strength and faith—and emerged even more committed to service. Tara and Ted have been married for 27 years and are proud parents of Lindsay, Teddy, and Coco.
